North Lanarkshire
Our charity has been working with Kirkfieldbank Primary School, Lanark, we presented a Remembrance bench on Monday 4th November 2019. We have been working with the young people, learning about our WW1 heritage, they have learned about their families history, researching family members who have served. They learned about the Royal Navy, British Army and the Royal Air Force. The teachers and children want us to do more work with the school.
The young people created WW1 poems and learned about "Sgt Jimmy Speirs". The also learmed about a local hero "William Angus VC who is buried in Carluke. The childrens reading, writing and knowledge has improved as they became so interested in learning about facts surrounding the Great War. The Depute Lord Lieutenant Millar Stoddart.
