D Day 75

On Wednesday 5th June 2019 at Whitburn South Parish Church Hall, ASA Celebrated and Commemorated D-Day 75. Our guest Group Captain Bob Kemp CBE QVRM AE DL gave an excellent account of events leading up to D-Day and the aftermath.

There is no doubt this day is a very important date in time that must never be forgotten.

In 2018 Lt Col Gary Tait MBE along with our Chairman and members commissioned our DDay 75 artwork, it was created by the well know Scottish Artist Helen Runciman.

In 2019 at our DDay 75 event, Helen and our Chairman John Jenkin's unvieled the brilliant painting. The Depute Lord Lieutenant for West Lothian attended, along with local Councilor's, Veterans and the West Lothian Community. The entainment from Whitburn Brass Band, Singers Amy Hawthorn and Mia Lewington was outstanding. Cameron Davidson laid a wreath in memory of those who paid the supreme sacrifce and poppy crosses were placed in the sand as a mark of respect. ASA Chairman presented Kevin Heggie and West Lothian Council with a D-Day print to thank them for their support.
